Villarreal 'keeper Diego Lopez has revealed that he could still take his place between the posts against Sevilla tomorrow evening, despite a niggling groin injury.
"I feel some discomfort, but I have hopes of being able to play because there is still a day for me to recover," the 28-year-old told AS.
"I would be delighted to play because it will definitely be one of the best games of the season against one of the best teams in the league," he added.
El Submarino Amarillo have been improving in recent weeks and have secured important results in both the Primera Division and the Europa League. However, the 'keeper feels that there is still a lot of work to do.
"We've improved and that's been noticed, but there's still a lot to be done. If we were to get a good result against Sevilla then, yes, you could say that it's a big step away from such a concerning start to the season.
"The element of luck has greatly influenced the turnaround, because I don't think that the team's level of play has changed a lot.
"Now we have an effect that we didn't have in the first matches and as a result our spirit is better, and this is very important."
