Sporting Gijon Clash Is Vital For Espanyol's Ambitions - Mauricio Pochettino
The coach believes that tomorrow's match will be excellent entertainment for the neutral due to the attacking nature of both sides...
Mauricio Pochettino is looking forward to Espanyol's encounter with Sporting Gijon at El Molinon tomorrow, but has underlined the importance of the match to his side.
"We've raised the level of intensity during the week, so that we have the necessary energy for the two games this week [against Sporting and Getafe]," he explained to El Mundo Deportivo.
"It's a very important game for our aspirations and to consolidate us in a decent position.
"We are two sides who don't sit back, who look to play well with the ball and put on a show. Our target is the opposition's goal."
Pochettino is only beginning on his coaching career, having taken charge of los Periquitos in January this year, and has paid tribute to Sporting's experienced trainer Manolo Preciado.
"I'm a big fan. He's a very important person in our profession. He's a coach who has captivated me for some time."
