Sevilla Coach Manolo Jimenez Not Interested In Excuses Ahead Of Villarreal Match
The trainer is delighted that Vicente Del Bosque may decide to call up winger Jesus Navas into the Spain squad...
"If we can change our mindset quickly, that's perfect, but if we are still happy with ourselves for qualifying to the knockout phase in the Champions League, that's bad," Jimenez stated to Marca.
"We must be focused and motivated - that is our requirement. Yes, the internationals don't stop - this escapes many people. It's what comes with having good players. But there are no excuses until after the Copa del Rey.
"It wasn't normal that [Villarreal] were down there. They have the means to be at the top. We must keep our concentration and intensity to go forwards," he added.
Jimenez was also delighted with Jesus Navas' declaration that he is ready to be called up to the Spanish national side, after suffering for years with anxiety problems and panic attacks.
"It shows the sporting and personal maturity of the player. I'm delighted with the decision that he's taken - I'm happy for the player and for Spanish football," he stated.
