Inter Striker Samuel Eto'o Hopes To End His Career With Mallorca
The Cameroonian hitman wants to return to the Balearic side to finish his playing days...
Inter's Samuel Eto'o has revealed his hope to return to Mallorca in the future, as he wants to finish his career with the club that he holds dear to his heart.
"I hope to end my sporting career at the club that I hold inside of me, which is Mallorca," he told the Balearic club's official website.
Eto'o joined Mallorca in 2000, originally on loan from Real Madrid, and spent four prolific years with the islanders before joining Barcelona for €24m in 2004.
His former sides face off in the Camp Nou this evening, and Eto'o hopes that "the best team wins" as he has "great affection" for both clubs.
The 28-year-old admitted that he would love to be in the stadium for the fixture, "right on the halfway line, so that it can't be said I am more on one side than the other".
However, he added that he couldn't make the trip as his responsibilities with Inter must come first.
"My professional duties mean that I must be in Milan - we have a game with Roma, so I will only be able to watch it on television. I will follow it closely."
Los Barralets have been the surprise package in the Primera Division this season under Gregorio Manzano and currently sit fifth in the table. Eto'o believes that their excellent start to the season could see them get a result in the Camp Nou.
"Mallorca have a wonderful team, they are having a great season and, with their excellent coach, I'm sure they will be looking for the opportunity to surprise [Barcelona]," he concluded.
