I Would Make Same Challenge On Cristiano Ronaldo Again - Marseille Defender Souleymane Diawara

He maintains he won the ball...

Souleymane Diawara (Marseille defender)
Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara has revealed that if he was put in the same situation again he would make the same tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo, which resulted in the Real Madrid star being injured.

The tackle came in the UEFA Champions League tie between the two teams on September 30, a game in which Ronaldo scored twice in a 3-0 win for Los Blancos. The Portuguese winger then aggravated the injury on international duty and as a result has not played for Madrid in any of their seven games since.

"I would re-do the challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo. The game is like that and I would not hesitate to do it again," he declared, according to AS before maintaining that television footage proves he won the ball.

"It is true that I went into the tackle hard and fast, but television pictures show that I played the ball."

The two sides meet in the return fixture at Stade Velodrome on December 8, with Ronaldo expected to be fit.
