Atletico Madrid Striker Sergio Aguero: We Can Beat Real Madrid
The derby is heating up and the Atleti striker is in a confident mood...
Sergio Aguero believes that Atletico Madrid can beat neighbours Real Madrid in the city derby on Saturday if they maintain the form they have showed in recent games.
Buoyed by his brace against Chelsea in midweek, the Argentinian striker is now confident that Los Colchoneros can step up another level and give their supporters something to celebrate.
Real Madrid have been picking up results but playing inconsistently and Aguero thinks that now is a good time for Atletico to be facing them.
“We’re in a complicated situation, but we have to lift our heads. We know that we have a tough match on Saturday, but we can win and earn the three points that we need so badly," he was quoted as saying by the club's official website.
"It’s a head-to-head match-up and I believe that if we’re as focused as we’ve been in the last few games, that we’re going to get a good result.
Aguero is not bothered by how Los Merengues have been playing and is only focused on ensuring that he is at his best.
"For me the important thing is that I’m well. I don’t care what Madrid does. What interests me for the derby is that my team-mates and I are fine and that we get the three points," he continued.
“Our fans want a victory now, just like we do. The only thing on our minds is the victory and getting three points from Saturday’s match.
"We have to earn points and, obviously, we have the added incentive that we could earn them against Real Madrid."
