Atletico Madrid Must Build On Chelsea Performance - Simao
Los Colchoneros must take the positives from last night's game to start winning points in the league...
Los Rojiblancos sit in third place in Group D, seven points behind second-placed Porto, with only two games to go. Nevertheless, Simao is looking for the positives from last night's result.
"We have to be happy with what we did, it has to give us strength," the Portuguese winger explained to Marca.
"It was a fantastic game for us, we did everything we had to do - fight, play good football, take our opportunities..."
Quique Sanchez Flores' side take on Real Madrid at the Vicente Calderon this weekend, and Simao has called on his side to give a similar performance as they did against Chelsea in order to start moving up the league table.
"We want the team to grow, to start winning and to collect points. We know we are going through a difficult time and we can't stay in this situation, but we have to get points - that's the important thing.
"I fear Real Madrid as a team. Cristiano [Ronaldo] was the best last season and I hope he recovers soon to help the national team, but also that he doesn't play on Saturday," he grinned.
