Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Real Zaragoza are among a host of clubs monitoring Jonas Gutierrez's situation after the player's agent stated that he could leave Newcastle United.
The trio of Spanish clubs have joined the race to prise the Argentinian international away from St James' Park in the winter transfer window.
Along with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Everton, several European sides are interested in the all-action midfielder after his representative claimed he could move on in January.
Despite praising the recent appointment of Chris Hughton as the full-time manager at Newcastle, Jonas would still like to play at the top level in the months leading up to the World Cup Finals.
"We know European clubs are interested," the player's agent, Pedro Jimenez Bravo, was quoted as saying by The People.
"We have held meetings with Newcastle, but there is an option for the player to leave, although it must be a good offer."
Jonas joined Newcastle in 2008 after impressing at Real Mallorca and has retained his place in Diego Maradona's Argentina squad despite playing in the English second tier this term.
