Villarreal Striker Nilmar Receives Two Match Ban - Report
The club have 15 days to mount an appeal...
Villarreal have been dealt a blow with the news that Brazilian striker Nilmar has been handed a two-match suspension for violent conduct following an incident in their Copa del Rey tie with Puertollano on Thursday, according to AS.
Nilmar was sent off with a little under fifteen minutes remaining in the first leg of their fourth round encounter for an elbow on Puertollano midfielder Encinas.
The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation found on Friday that the incident warranted a two game suspension but the Yellow Submarine have 15 days to lodge an appeal against the ban.
Should the suspension be upheld it will be a blow to Ernesto Valverde's side as Nilmar managed his first league goal of the season in last weeks win over Malaga which was Villarreal's first Primera Liga win of the season.
This weekend they host Tenerife at the Madrigal as the look to continue climbing the table.
