Shunsuke Nakamura: I Will Adapt At Espanyol
Espanyol's big summer signing has yet to impress...
Shunsuke Nakamura has admitted that he is still struggling to adapt to life in La Primera after questions were raised about Espanyol's decision to sign him in the summer.
The Japan international was a hero at Celtic during his four years at the club and was expected to bring his technique and creativity to the Blanc i Blau.
Instead he has yet to shine and the critics have openly doubted that he can make it at the club, but Nakamuta is confident that he can.
"I have not yet adapted to Espanyol and to the football here," he was quoted as saying by Sport.
"I recognise that I have to work a lot more and I hope that I can improve a great deal more because, for me, it is a big challenge.
"The club signed me to play for them and they have helped me a lot. I have not felt under any pressure and all I want is to continue to train to find my rhythm.
"I am sure I will improve.
"I have had trouble adapting to the speed of things and how fast the ball is played here in Spain.
"But I also have to adapt to the style of play but, as I have said, I will improve. It is just a question of time."
