Real Betis' game against Villarreal B has been called off after no less than 13 players from the Andalucian club caught swine flu. Also, all training has been cancelled.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) accepted the Verdiblancos' request to postpone the match at the weekend after receiving all the medical reports.

After seeing Rivas, Nelson, Sunny, Nano, Damia, Fernando Vega, Sergio Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Israel, Juande, Pavone, Caffa and Emana all contract the H1N1 virus Betis were unable to do any training.

Apart from the injured squad members, coach Antonio Tapia was left with just seven fit players to work with ahead of the Segunda A encounter.

Betis' medical chief, Tomas Calero, felt that the club had no option but to apply for the match against Villarreal B to be called off.

"We have been on contact with the health authorities to discuss what the protocol in these situations is," he was quoted as saying by AS.

"We then applied for the suspension of training for at least three days and spoke to all the players to explain to them how things would be done."
