Quique Sanchez Flores Conducts First Atletico Madrid Training Session

A new chapter began at Vicente Calderon on Sunday...

Quique Sanchez Flores (MARCA)
Quique Sanchez Flores took charge of his first training session as coach of Ateltico Madrid on Sunday morning and spoke to the beleaguered squad at length at the start.

The former Valencia and Benfica boss replaced Abel Resino at the helm on Friday and will not be officially presented until Monday, but he has already started work.

After watching the dismal draw against Real Mallorca on Saturday evening Sanchez Flores spoke to his new players for half-an-hour in a bid to lift their spirits.

While 50 hardcore supporters gathered outside to protest about the way the board has been running the club, inside the Vicente Calderon the new coach was putting his message across.

Defender Antonio Lopez stepped outside after the session and spoke to the throng of fans, who had already made their feelings known after the game the evening before.

With only one win this term in all competitions Atletico's confidence is rock bottom and Sanchez Flores' knows that his first task will be to ensure that everyone believes in what they are doing.
