Javier Acuna 'Thrilled' To Be In Real Madrid Squad
Injuries give the Paraguayan a chance in he first team squad...
Paraguayan striker Javier Acuna has said he is "overjoyed" to be included in the Real Madrid squad for the trip to El Molinon to take on Sporting Gijon tonight.
The 21-year-old striker has been brought into the squad by coach Manuel Pellegrini from Real Madrid Castilla, the clubs second string, due to a long list of injuries to the first team attacking players.
With Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain added to a list of casualties that includes Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo, the attacking options for Los Blancos are limited, giving the young Paraguayan the chance to join the squad.
Acuna has revealed that he was not expecting to be included but now that he is in the squad he is hoping to make his debut appearance in the famous white shirt.
"Hopefully there is the chance [to play)] I was not expecting anything and I'm thrilled," he was quoted as saying by Marca.
Acuna signed a five year deal at Madrid in December 2008, after spells at Cadiz and Salamanca in the Segunda Division.
