Santi Cazorla Hoping Spain's Luck Rubs Off On Villarreal

Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla has said that the Yellow Submarine have not had the same "luck" as Spain as they look to put an end to their poor domestic run.

So far this term, Villarreal have failed to win a single game in the Primera Division and sit just one point above Xerez at the foot of the table after six games played.

Ernesto Valverde's side will face the Andalusian outfit, who are newcomers to Spain's top flight, on Sunday and Cazorla knows Villarreal need to start winning if they are to climb their way up the table.

"It is clear that Villarreal have not had the same luck [as Spain], but we believe we can change everything if we win on Sunday because we will take confidence from a win," he is quoted as saying by Super Deporte.

Cazorla says that Sunday's game is "very important" for both teams and acknowledged that his international team-mates expressed their surprise at Villarreal's current lowly league standing.

"It's a bit weird being down here and even our [Spain] team-mates asked us why," he remarked.
