thumbnail Hello,

Real Madrid's midfield options may increase if Sergi Ramos has his way...

Sergio Ramos has revealed his desire to try playing as a defensive midfielder for Real Madrid.

The Spain international is recognised for his ability to play at full-back and in middle of the defence, but he wants to branch out and become more involved in games.

Fernando Gago may regularly partner Lassana Diarra in the role, but Ramos has put his name forward should either player pick up a knock.

"I am improving and I practice a lot in training, but I am not [David] Beckham," he told AS.

"I have played there before. [Juan Ramon] Lopez Caro and [Vanderlei] Luxemburgo used me there, and the truth is that I like to play as a defensive midfielder.

"I cannot make the final assist each time, but if I have to, I will try.

"Playing there also allows you to push up, but also to drop back and help out in the centre of defence."
