Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso could return to action as early as this weekend as his recovery from an Achilles injury is progressing well, according to AS.
Alonso was injured in the 5-2 victory away to FC Zurich in the UEFA Champions League last week and had to be replaced shortly after half-time.
Since then the former Liverpool star has been limited to gym work in training and missed out on the weekend win over Xerez. He will also miss tomorrow night's game at the Madrigal against Villarreal.
The 27-year-old took part in ball drills alone on Monday and is expected to train alone again on Tuesday at Madrid's Valdebebas training ground.
If Alonso suffers no further setback in training he is expected to be included in Manuel Pellegrini's squad for Sunday's game against Tenerife at the Bernabeu.
