The former Lyon man has set high standards for himself with his new club...Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has set his sights on becoming one of the best players in the world, but knows that we he will have to be dedicated to achieve his ambitions.
The club’s official website reports that in a recent interview, the French international discussed his first impressions following his big-money move from Lyon to the Bernabeu in the summer, as part of Florentino Perez’s spending spree.
The 21-year old has set himself targets for the next few years, and has also set his sights on grabbing football’s biggest club prize.
“I would like to win the Champions League with Real Madrid,” he said, before adding, “Someday I hope that I can become one of the best players in the world, but to do this I know that I will have to work hard.”
Benzema also gave his impressions of his new adopted city, and admitted that he still enjoys returning to Lyon to be among family and friends.
He continued, “I have settled well in Madrid. I am still living in a hotel, but it has not been difficult for me.
“When I return to Lyon, it has not changed at all for me. I continue to have the same friendships and habits. In Madrid I do not have many friends because I have only been here a very short time, and I only know people through the club.”
Finally Benzema admitted that the level of pressure at Los Blancos differs greatly from those he faced with Les Gones.
He said,“I feel more pressure here because I know it is necessary to always be fighting for the titles. This year we have a great team and much is expected of us,”
