Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has endured some bad news this week as Xabi Alonso and Christoph Metzelder both picked up injuries.
However, he will be heartened by the news that Sergio Ramos' recovery from injury could be completed when they take on Xerez at the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday.
Pellegrini's side have been uncertain at the back this season, but the 23-year-old's return to action could go some way towards resolving the defensive problems.
According to Marca, Ramos is now ready to feature for los Blancos' first team after a three month layoff. Pellegrini is thought to be weighing up the idea of playing him from the start against the secondary option of bringing him on at half time for either Raul Albiol or Ezequiel Garay.
There had been doubts over Albiol's physical condition after picking up a knock in the Champions League tie against FC Zurich, but he has recovered with no ill effects.
If Ramos does appear for los Merengues, it would be his first game since appearing in the 3-1 loss against Mallorca on May 24.
