Newcastle United are doing well this season and so is their Spanish full-back...Jose Enrique believes that he is enjoying his best spell at Newcastle United since joining the club but recognises that nobody in Spain will know how he is doing.
The former Villarreal full-back was keen to leave St James' Park in the summer, but has now found his feet in the Championship and is enjoying himself at the club.
Newcastle's encouraging start to the campaign has helped the 23-year-old after he was unsure if the team would be able to bounce back after the shock of relegation.
"This is the best period of my two years here – it's been great to have been winning games, and there have been a lot of good moments," he told The Shields Gazette.
"If people had told us two months ago that we'd be where we are, then maybe we wouldn't have believed them."
Enrique would like people back in his native Spain to be able to see his progress, but he knows that nobody can see the Championship and so he has to send videos home.
"There are more people that watch the Championship in Spain now," he continued. "My family enjoy watching me play, and I can send them matches.
"It's only really important to them. Nobody is really interested in it Spain, so otherwise they don't see it on TV over there.
"I think the quality is okay, but I think there will only be about six or seven teams out of the whole division who can really say they have a chance of playing in the Premier League next year.
"But I think that any team can beat any other in a one-off match.
"That has happened already to us, and the difficulty level is the same for each game."
