Los Merengues president Florentino Perez has added Spain's top referee to the pay roll...
Real Madrid have added referee Megia Davilla to their ranks, according to reports in the Spanish press.
Davilla, who has won the Guruceta Trophy for the best referee in La Liga for the last two seasons, will join Madrid's Department of Institutional Relations.
The Guruceta Trophy is awarded by Spanish newspaper Marca who evaluate the performance of referees in Spanish football throughout the course of the season.
He will work under former Madrid player Emilio Butragueno and will work on such aspects of the game as maintaining good relations with official bodies and keeping players and coaches up to date with rule changes, as they occur.
Davilla is still registered as a referee but failed to make the physical fitness requirements to be actively involved this season. He is expected to announce his retirement from refereeing when his role at Madrid is made official.
