Real Madrid Have Been Interested In Me For Years - Barcelona's Gerard Pique
The Spanish defender claims he is a long-term target of the Merengues...
Gerard Pique has been an influential member of Barcelona since rejoining the Catalan outfit from Manchester United last season and has been nominated for UEFA's European Defender of the Year award for his role in the club's title run in the Champions League.
The 22-year-old central defender has now revealed that Real Madrid have long been interested in him but he insists he is fully committed to the Blaugrana.
"Madrid have had an interest for years," he told Esports Club. "The bud of that interest has been nipped from the start.
"Now I only want to focus on Barca, I really like being here and I have never considered leaving the club."
Pique noted the fans' talk about titles is "normal" after marching to an unprecedented treble last season.
"After winning the treble there is a lot of hope, both in the press and among the fans, but we must look at the season like last year, with tranquility," he concluded.
