Real Madrid's new era got off to a winning start at the Bernabeu, and Goal.com was on hand to rate all the players...
Iker Casillas - 7 - Didn't have any tough saves to make, and could not have done anything to prevent the two goals, but did the simple things well.
Alvaro Arbeloa - 6 - Offered Guardado far too much space on the right, and was lucky that it only led to one goal.
Raul Albiol - 5 - His marking could have been better at times, most notably for the first goal.
Ezequiel Garay - 6 - Was far too loose with his marking, allowing Riki and Valeron too much space for their goals.
Marcelo - 7 - Wasn't completely secure at the back, but did provide a decent option going forward.
Lassana Diarra - 9 - Looks an even better player than he was last season. Solid defensively, he played some great through balls, including the one that led to the penalty, and capped the night off with a screamer.
Xabi Alonso - 7 - Looked calm & assured throughout, and hardly misplaced a pass.
Cristiano Ronaldo - 7 - Not his best game by any stretch, with some very wayward free-kicks and inconsequential dribbling. However, he did slot the penalty home, under immense pressure.
Kaka - 7 - Looked threatening at times with some forceful running, and came close to scoring with a couple of long range efforts.
Raul - 8 - Seemed to fit in perfectly with his new strike partners, with some deft touches. Scored a typical poacher's goal, and earned the penalty.
Karim Benzema - 8 - Lively throughout, and was unlucky not to score, hitting the woodwork twice after two excellent saves from Aranzubia.
Esteban Granero - 7 - Looked calm for the thirty minutes he had, without providing anything spectacular.
Gonzalo Higuain - 6 - Wasted a couple of great chances during his short stay.
Guti - N/A
Deportivo La Coruna
Daniel Aranzubia - 7 - Can't really be criticised for the goals, although he may have been more careful with the penalty. Made some spectacular saves to keep the score respectable.
Laure - 7 - Looked comfortable in dealing with Ronaldo, but failed to offer some much needed support down the right wing.
Ze Castro - 6 - His marking left a little to be desired throughout.
Alberto Lopo - 7 - Also at fault for some poor marking, but won his fair share of headers.
Filipe Luis - 7 - Made one or two defensive lapses, but was a constant threat bombing forward down the left.
Juca - 6 - Did provide the assist for Riki's header, but was fairly anonymous otherwise.
Juan Rodriguez - 5 - Failed to make any impact whatsoever, and was a passenger in midfield.
Pablo Alvarez - 7 - Looked threatening going forward, and could have made a greater impact if given more support.
Juan Valeron - 7 - Scored a great goal at the start of the second half, but his night will be remembered for a glaring miss that would cost his side.
Andres Guardado - 8 - Easily Depor's best player, was a menace down the left, but often found no-one on the end of his crosses.
Riki - 7 - Took his goal well in a lonely night up front, but was left with just too much to do.
Lafita - 5 - Was given plenty of time to make a difference, but hardly touched the ball.
Juan Perez - N/A
