thumbnail Hello,

The back-up 'keeper makes the switch to Barca's Catalan neighbours....

Barcelona's third-choice goalkeeper, Albert Jorquera, has left the European champions to join Liga Adelante side Girona after terminating his contract at Camp Nou, according to AS.

Jorquera had been told that he was surplus to requirements at the end of last season and reports suggested that he refused approaches from other Segunda Division clubs this summer.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper graduated through the ranks at Barca but has only played for the Blaugrana on seven occasions since turning professional in 1999.

Under Pep Guardiola, Jorquera has managed just one appearance, coming in Barca's last home game of the group stages of the 2008-09 Champions League campaign against Shahktar Donetsk, a game they lost 3-2.

He dropped down the pecking order at Barcelona when the Cules signed 33-year-old Jose Pinto from Celta Vigo last year as back-up to Victor Valdes.

Barcelona have retained the option to re-sign Jorquera in case of emergency.
