Sevilla's record signing Alvaro Negredo believes his side can beat champions Barcelona and former club Real Madrid to the Primera Division crown, according to Marca.

"The obligation now is to do things right and win titles for Sevilla," he said.

Speaking of his decision to join Los Nervionenses Negredo said that it was a footballing decision.

"There were many offers but this satisfied my priorities, my desire to play in the Champions League and remain in Spain," said the 24-year-old striker.

"I refused better financial offers as this is about sport," he added.

He also acknowleged that good form for his new club can provide him with the opportunity to make the Spanish national side.

"If you do not achieve with your club ou can't make the national selection," he emphasised.

Club sporting director Ramon Rodriguez claimed that Sevilla's squad is now the envy of most of Europe and said a stronger squad takes on more importance with the Africa Nations Cup coming in January.

"Manolo Jimenez [ Sevilla coach] could be without four players in January, including two attackers," said Rodriguez.
