Javi Garcia completed a €7m move from Real Madrid to Benfica last month and he has found regular action at the Estadio da Luz under Jorge Jesus.
The 22-year-old was involved in Benfica's 4-0 win over Vorskla Poltava for the Europa League play-offs and he has now praised his new club.
"The truth is that I am happy. The team is young, with a lot of will, and I have the feeling we will do great things," he said at a press conference.
"Everything is new to me. The first time I played in the league, against Maritimo, I saw the matches are very complicated.
"We are eager to get our first win in the league and let's hope it will be on Sunday."
When asked to compare Real Madrid with Benfica, Javi Garcia said: "As a club, there are not many differences between them.
"Benfica are the most adored club in Portugal and the stadium is crazy. Now, as a league, the Spanish one is more recognised," he added.
Still, Javi Garcia insists he does not regret trading the Spanish capital for the Portuguese one, saying, "Life here is not that much different from Madrid."
