Report: Barcelona To Move Again For Shakhtar's Dmytro Chygrynsky
The Blaugrana are set to make one final bid for the Donetsk defender...
Barcelona have identified Dmytro Chygrynsky of Shakhtar Donetsk as their number one target following a meeting between president Joan Laporta and coach Pep Guardiola yesterday, according to Sport.
Attempts to sign the Ukrainian centre-back will be re-ignited as early as this weekend with a suggested figure of €25 million needed to secure the transfer.
Shakhtar are currently involved in a Europa League play-off with Turkish side Sivasspor, leading 3-0, with the second eg taking place on Tuesday in Donetsk. As a result negotiations were expected to wait until Wednesday or Thursday, but they may take place sooner.
The two sides meet next Friday in the UEFA Super Cup showdown in the Louis II Stadium in Monaco, and it is reported that formal negotiations will take place between Laporta and Rinat Ahmetov, the Shakhtar president, if not before then.
The player is apparently keen to make the switch and is quoted as saying, "Is there any player in the world who doesn't want to play for Barca?"
The 22-year-old central defender has represented Ukraine on 18 occasions.
