Rafael Marquez To Miss Mexico Game After Suffering Seattle Knock
Barcelona are beginning to feel the effects of pre-season...
The 30-year-old defender suffered a calf strain in the warm-up for the Blaugrana's win against Seattle Sounders and has been told that he will be out of action for ten days to two weeks.
That is a set-back in the middle of preparations for the new campaign for Marquez, but Barca club medics believe that he could be back in time for the Spanish Super Cup on August 16.
Mexico play the United States four days earlier in Mexico City and they have already been informed by the Catalan outfit that the player will not be available.
According to Barca's official website, Marquez suffered a small muscle tear in his right calf and will not play in the team's last friendly across the Pond.
Before suffering the knock, the former Monaco star explained that he is excited by the new season because "the team has not lost the desire to win everything".
