Marcos Senna Delighted With Villarreal Capture Of Nilmar
The Brazilian-born maestro is full of expectation for the new season, particularly with new additions in tow...
Senna missed Spain’s Confederation Cup campaign due to a muscle injury, but managed to complete a training session with his colleagues and is hoping to be fully fit for the beginning of the next season.
The experienced midfielder is also looking to be playing alongside
Nilmar, and AS reports that the 33-year old midfielder said, “Nilmar is one of the best strikers in Brazil, and when we managed to sign him I was very pleased. I really want to get back to work and feel like a footballer again.
“I have been out of action for a while, and now the most important thing is that I have recovered and I must match the fitness of my colleagues.”
Brazilian-born Senna was instrumental in aiding La Furia Roja’s triumphant Euro 2008 campaign, and also commented that watching his team-mates crash out at the semi-final stage was difficult to take.
He added, “To not play in the Confederations Cup was hard, but I have enjoyed my time off and am ready for the start of the season. I want to be ready to help them in the league.”
Finally, Senna stated that he will maintain his respect for former coach Manuel Pellegrini, but is looking forward to working alongside the new man in charge, Ernesto Valverde.
“In football things always change. In five years [Manuel] Pellegrini was very good to us, but we are all very excited and surely we will be fighting for the major honours this season.”
