Gerard Pique Hails New Barcelona Team-Mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Barcelona's central defender is delighted to see the striker join the club...
Gerard Pique believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the perfect player for Barcelona after the Swede met his new team-mates on Tuesday morning at the club's training complex.
The former Manchester United defender heaped praise on the Swede after he completed a move from Inter and thinks that the Blaugrana have done well to sign him.
As well as stating that he had his own problems coping with Ibrahimovic on the field, Pique believes that he has a bit of everything and will be outstanding.
“I consider him as one of the most complete players around at the moment. He’s physically strong, has great technique and is very good in the air," he is quoted as saying by Barca's official website.
"It’s a delight to watch him play. I believe he’s a player for Barca. Players like him are very strong and protect the ball well.
“As is normal, he arrived with a tremendous desire to meet everyone. It was a brief visit as he had to go to the hospital for an operation but I’m sure we’ll have plenty of time to talk during the tour."
Real Madrid's big spending has also provoked reaction from Pique and he believes that the new arrivals at the Bernabeu will make Manuel Pellegrini's team a title favourite.
“Teams such as Real Madrid, who have spent a lot in the transfer market, can also be considered to be among the favourites. We have to keep our feet on the ground as it will be a long hard season," he added.
