Ernesto Valverde: Nilmar Will Help Raise Villarreal’s Game
‘Txingguri’ believes that the Brazilian striker will elevate the Yellow Submarine’s game to another level…
Villarreal are on the verge of completing a club record €11 million signing of Internacional striker Nilmar.
Reports in AS have suggested that the deal is done but an official announcement had to be postponed because the 25-year-old has yet to return signed documents of his contract agreement.
But with his arrival imminent, coach Ernesto Valverde is looking forward to the Brazilian significantly bolstering the team’s attack.
“Nilmar is undoubtedly a very good player. He’s very fast and he plays well in space. He can add a lot to the team,” he told AS.
“He can bring many new and great things to the side, and for that reason, we are awaiting his transfer to be completed so that we can start working with him.”
The Internacional hitman will compete with the likes of Joseba Llorente, Giuseppe Rossi, Jozy Altidore and in-form Jonathan Pereira for a place in attack, and Valverde believes there’s more than enough quality and strength in the squad to challenge in the Primera Division, Europa League and Copa del Rey.
The coach is also hoping that Marcos Senna makes a swift return from injury.
“We are all awaiting his recovery,” he affirmed. “And once he’s back, we will more or less have a complete squad.”
