The tricky winger insists he wants to prove his worth at the Vicente Calderon next season...

Atletico Madrid wide man Jose Jurado has confirmed that he hopes to be part of coach Abel Resino’s plans for next season and is confident of a fresh start to his career at the Vicente Calderon.

The 23-year-old  made the cross-city switch from Real Madrid to join Atletico in the summer of 2007, and after a successful run in the side during his first season, he was on the periphery of the action in 2007-08 and was loaned out to Real Mallorca last year, where he enjoyed a top-half finish with the Islanders.

According to Marca, Jurado has arrived back to training with a renewed vigour and in a recent interview with the publication he stated, “I want to stay with Atletico, play here and succeed in the Champions League.”

La Liga outfits Getafe and newly-promoted Real Zaragoza had made approaches for winger, who managed nine league goals last season, and English side Aston Villa had also shown interest.

However, Abel Resino has confirmed his desire to allow Jurado to prove himself worthy of a first-team berth, along with fellow loanees Jose Antonio Reyes and Cleber Santana, who spent last season with Benfica and Real Mallorca respectively.
