The Andalucians have completed their second signing of the summer…

After snapping up holding midfielder Didier Zokora two weeks ago, Sevilla have added further defensive steel to the team by signing Sergio Sanchez from Espanyol.

The Andaluz outfit have confirmed on their official website that an agreement has been reached between both clubs for an undisclosed fee, but the 23-year-old will sign a four-year contract with a €25 million buy-out clause inserted into his terms.

Sanchez, who can play as a right-back or as a centre-back, said in his official press release, “I am very happy because Sevilla are the club that I wanted to join, for all the fanbase, for the team and the city.

“After such a hectic summer in the transfer market, I am finally at where I always wanted to be. It is a pleasure to already be a player of Sevilla FC.

“For me, the opportunity to enjoy the Champions League with Sevilla is the real prize. The staff and the squad of the club did an excellent job last season and they were rewarded with a third-place finish.

“I will arrive with a lot of motivation and excitement and I’m ready to help the club reach their objectives, which is ofcourse to win La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

“This team have the aspirations to achieve everything.”
