Inter Hopeful Of Tying Up Barcelona’s Samuel Eto'o On Thursday - Report
After being unable to reach a deal in the first round of talks, Inter believe a second set will see them secure their man...
Inter are confident that they can conclude a deal to sign Samuel Eto'o from Barcelona on Thursday morning after another round of talks with the striker.
The Italian club hit a stumbling block during the opening round of negotiations when the player's agent, Jose Maris Mesalles, revealed what it would take to reach an agreement.
Eto'o has been included in a deal between Barca and Inter that should see the Cameroonian star go to Italy and Zlatan Ibrahimovic move to the Camp Nou this summer.
Speaking to Inter's sporting director, Marco Branca, the demands were outlined, leaving the Serie A side considering their options about how much higher they can go.
Eto'o wants €12 million-per-year, the same as Ibrahimovic reportedly earns, but Inter are only willing to pay €9m plus bonuses, which has not gone down well.
The Italian club's president, Massimo Moratti, is putting a brave face on the matter, stating that he feels that things will be resolved and that he can persuade the goalscorer to sign.
"The negotiations are going forward," El Mundo Deportivo quote him as saying. "Eto'o? He will accept our offer and will sign for us."
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola may not have helped matters when he stated that Eto'o could stay at the club and would be welcome if a deal could not be reached, despite earlier stating that he felt the player should join Inter.
