Barcelona Ready To Sell Off Mini Estadi

The much-loved Mini Estadi is set to be sold off as all of Barca's teams move out to the training ground...

Camp Nou - Barcelona
Barcelona have reached an agreement with the Catalan government to sell their Mini Estadi in order to see the land converted into flats, a hotel, a school and open spaces.

The Catalan giants have moved all their teams to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on the outskirts of the city and no longer have any use for the 16,000-all seater arena.

President Joan Laporta struck a deal with the city mayor, Jordi Hereu, to use the site across the road from the Camp Nou complex to improve the local area around the ground.

While the Mini Estadi was the home of the Blaugrana's B side, Barca Atletic, they will now play at the training ground along with all the junior and youth teams.

Barca had had plans to sell off the land for many years, but agreeing a deal has always had hold-ups - and even now there could be objections to some of the plans.

Along with flats, there will be a hotel, a series of parks and gardens, a nursery school and secondary school as well as a health centre to lift the zone.
