thumbnail Hello,

The commanding hitman looks certain to leave El Madrigal again in search of regular playing time…

American striker, Jozy Altidore has decided to go on another loan spell as he looks to hammer down regular first team football with a top European side.

After a hugely successful Confederations Cup tournament with the U.S. national team, the 19-year-old made it perfectly clear that he will not stay at Villarreal if he cannot be guaranteed first team action, nor will he return to Spain’s second division on loan, having spent the second half of last term at Xerez.

According to reports from Goal.com’s Greek edition, Altidore is on the verge of joining Greek juggernauts, Olympiakos on a season-long loan deal with the option to purchase the player permanently at the end of the campaign.

The former New York Red Bulls star joined the Yellow Submarine last summer for €7.4 million in what was expected to be a promising move for both parties and a tantalising attacking partnership with American-born Italian, Giuseppe Rossi.

But he only made six appearances and scored one goal for El Submarino during the six months of his stay, but fared even worse over at Xerez when he failed to see even a single minute of game time.
