Andrea Pirlo Was Never In Our Plans - Atletico Madrid President Cerezo
The president has revealed that Andrea Pirlo has never been a target for Atletico and that there have been no offers for Diego Forlan or Sergio Aguero...
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that a deal for Sergio Asenjo is almost done and that the fans should be "calm" as he expects to make "two" more signings.
So far the capital club have added Juanito to their squad for next year and whilst there has been a lot of talk of players coming in, there has been nothing else official.
The next arrival looks likely to be be Asenjo though, and Cerezo told Europa Press that, "The deal for Sergio Asenjo is basically finalised, with just the finishing touches left to do".
He also spoke about some of the transfer rumours surrounding the club, namely that they would make a move for Andrea Pirlo from AC Milan this summer.
"He has never been in our plans, he is a great player though and great players do interest Atletico Madrid," he explained.
The president went on to confirm that they are interested in "at least two signings", and reiterated they have "no intention of losing any players".
"Neither [Real] Madrid nor Barcelona have bid for [Diego Forlan], [Sergio] Aguero, Maxi [Rodriguez] or Simao, and nor has anyone else, there is no movement in the market," he stated.
Finally Cerezo spoke about the ambitions for next season, declaring that Atletico will fight for everything as they look to strengthen their squad.
"We will fight for it all, because we have a great team and we will see what we can do...whoever it applies to, the desire is to win, and Atletico fear nobody," he said.
"We have a great team, we will fight with what we have and, if we can and it is financially viable, we will bring in some players that we need."
