Manchester United Offer €46m To Atletico Madrid For Sergio Aguero - Report

News of the Red Devils’ frantic search for a striker has gone into overdrive over the past few hours…

With reports that Manchester United are on the threshold of securing the services of Michael Owen on a free transfer, rumours are starting to escalate that they are ready to follow it up with a major operation.

It has been reported that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch an €18.7 million offer to Sevilla for Luis Fabiano. And now, the Daily Mirror is speculating that the Red Devils could also make a €46m (₤40m) bid for Atletico Madrid starlet Sergio Aguero.

It is unlikely, however, that Los Colchoneros president Enrique Cerezo will entertain the proposal, as he has already stressed on numerous occasions that he will not listen to any offers for 'El Kun', or even for strike partner Diego Forlan, unless the bids match their buy-out clause: €60m for Aguero and €36m for the former United reject.

Despite recently cashing €94m into the bank from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, Ferguson has said that he will not overspend in the transfer market this summer.
