Real Madrid, Valencia To Formalise Raul Albiol Transfer On Thursday - Report

The young defender looks set to become the 'third' signing in the new Galacticos era…

Raul Albiol - Valencia

Reports emerged yesterday that Real Madrid had reached an agreement of around €15 million with Valencia to sign their star defender, Raul Albiol.

Now, Cadena SER has reported that the two clubs will release an official statement later on Thursday to confirm the deal. It is believed that the 23-year-old will sign a contract to spend the next five years at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be presented to the media when he returns from Confederations Cup duty with Spain.

The player himself, however, declined to comment on the move when he was approached by reporters after La Furia Roja’s shock 2-0 loss to the United States.

“I do not know anything official yet,” he was quoted by AS. “I am still thinking about the game and I’m very upset with the defeat. But tomorrow is another day.”

Albiol will become the 'third' signing in Florentino Perez’s second reign at the ‘White House’, following the capture of Kaka and the imminent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
