Valencia full-back Emiliano Moretti looks set to leave the club imminently after the player's agent admitted that negotiations were at an advanced stage with Serie A side Lazio.

The 28-year old Moretti joined los Che in 2004 when Claudio Ranieri became head coach and after a successful season long loan at Bologna.
The left-sided defender made over 100 Primera Division appearances in Spain, and started 25 matches under Unai Emery this season, helping the club to a sixth place finish.

Moretti’s agent Federico Pastorello confirmed that the Rome-born player has been contacted by Lazio, and he told Italian radio station Incontro, “Lazio are looking at whether [Emiliano] Moretti meets the needs of the team.”

“It is the player’s desire to return to Italy after five years at Valencia, and there are another three of four choices of teams for him.”

Pastorello also confirmed that Valencia had rejected a bid from Genoa, thought to be in the region of €7 million, at the beginning of last season, but now with the dire financial situation that the club are facing, they may be forced to accept an offer of €4m.

Valencia have still not managed to sell the ground where their current stadium the Mestalla stands, and work on their new arena has stalled as the cash flow problems continue to accumulate.
