Real Madrid Tried To Tempt Pique Away From Barcelona - Report
Los Merengues were prepared to pay the defender's buy-out clause, but he had no intention of moving...
Florentino Perez did try and sign a Barcelona player for Real Madrid, but Gerard Pique was not interested.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Perez approached Pique about two months before taking charge of Los Blancos but was met with a frank refusal.
Pique's buy-out clause is €50 million, a sum that Perez was willing to pay, but the Barca defender had no intention of moving.
Pique was brought up at Barca and thus was highly unlikely to consider a move to the Bernabeu. He has had considerable success at that stadium, however, having scored there for both Spain and the Blaugrana.
