Sergio Asenjo will honour his agreement with Atletico Madrid, despite the late interest from Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
The Valladolid goalkeeper has been on the verge of a move for a few weeks now but various circumstances have meant that it has not been made official.
Nevertheless, Marca reports that Asenjo will still join Atletico Madrid for the next four seasons and should finalise the deal soon.
The goalkeeper is currently away on international duty with the Spanish Under-21 side but there have been reports that due to Victor Valdes not yet renewing his contract with Barcelona, he could move to the Camp Nou.
It is even thought that the Catalans have contacted Valladolid about a price for Asenjo, but he has made up his mind and wants to join Atletico.
The main issue that needs to be sorted now is reportedly the price for the goalkeeper, with Valladolid wanting €4 million and two players.
However, at the moment they are interested in Ignacio Camacho and Alvaro Dominguez, neither of whom Atletico want to sell as they are part of their plans for next season.
Hence, the two options now are either for Valladolid to choose another two players that Atletico agree on, or for the capital side to pay the buyout clause of €5.5 million.
