thumbnail Hello,

The brilliant Brazilian reckons that the Blaugrana will be too good for rivals Real Madrid again next season...

Barcelona’s flamboyant right-back Daniel Alves insists that the club will remain calm in the light of Real Madrid’s extravagant spending, and that the current crop of stars at the Camp Nou will ensure that they maintain their high standard of performance next season.

The media furore has surrounded Real Madrid in recent weeks thanks to the return of Florentino Perez as president and the sensational capture of Kaka along with the imminent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Alves however believes that the Spanish treble winners can defend their titles next season despite the arrival of such high-profile footballers.

Sport reports that the Brazilian said, “We have great players and it is our duty to maintain a high level.

“The season has been one of dreams because of the three titles that we have achieved, and to top it with the Confederations Cup would be very nice.”

In addition, when asked whether he would like to face European Champions Spain in the final of the tournament, the former Sevilla star admitted that La Furia Roja would make a tough opponent.

He concluded, “There is still a lot of competition, and I know that it will be difficult.”

Brazil opened their Confederations Cup campaign with a thrilling 4-3 win over Egypt this afternoon.
