Barcelona are confident that they will reach an agreement with Victor Valdes about a new deal as talks continue without producing a result to extend his stay.
The Blaugrana's sporting vice-president, Rafael Yuste, believes that the Catalan goalkeeper has no desire to leave Camp Nou and that the club do not want to see him go.
Valdes may have had his critics outside of Barca, but he is viewed as one of the best in the world by the coaching staff and his team-mates and the board agree.
Manchester United have been linked with the custodian and his agent has stated that he is more important to the team than Andres Iniesta and Xavi in a bid to add more pressure in the talks.
Yuste does not think that the delay in reaching an agreement will mean that Valdes could end up leaving the club, with whom he has only one more year on his current deal.
"He is very happy at Barça, like everyone else on the payroll," Sky Sports quote him as saying.
"So I cannot imagine Victor Valdes playing for a team other than Barça and I hope he continues at Barca."
