Atletico Madrid's Gregory Coupet Agrees Paris Saint-Germain Terms - Report
After just one year in Spain, the former French number one is set for a return home...
Gregory Coupet has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to join them this summer and is now hoping that Atletico de Madrid will agree to let him leave, according to a report.
The 37-year-old French goalkeeper is keen to end his time in Spanish football after an unsuccessful season at the Vicente Calderon that saw him play just eleven times.
Several clubs registered their interest in Coupet once it became clear that he did not want to spend a second year with Atletico sitting on the bench.
PSG have now fended off the competition and have ironed out the disagreements about personal terms to reach a deal that will see the former Lyon custodian pen a 12-month contract with them.
Le Parisien state that while that side of the transfer has been done, the formality of gaining his release from Atletico still has to be settled, but that should not take long.
After four seasons at Saint-Etienne, Coupet joined Lyon and was inspirational in helping transform the club during eleven trophy-laden seasons at the top of Ligue 1.
In a bid to try a new experience, Coupet rejected several offers to try his luck with Atletico de Madrid, but the move did not turn out how he hoped and a move back to France is set to be made official.
