Victor Valdes And Barcelona Not Close To A Deal - Agent
The goalkeeper could leave Barcelona with his contract expiring next year...
The player's current contract with Barca expires next summer and there have been reports that he will leave a year before he becomes a free agent.
Gines Carvajal stated that his client wants to stay with the club but despite the fact there are no other offers, a deal is not close.
"We have presented an offer but we are very far away. This is difficult. The climate of the meeting has been right but it is not going to be easy. We respect the interests of the club but Victor has never come to ask for a raise before. Now, with a renewal on the table, we are asking," Marca quote him as saying.
"We do not have any other offers, but there is a hurry to make a decision. The wish of Victor is to stay with Barcelona, but the world does not end away from Barcelona."
With regards to the problems at the moment, Carvajal said that they are not happy with the offer from the club.
"We understand what they have offered but neither the duration nor the fee approach what Victor wants," he said.
"We are not disappointed because in the world of football there is no deception. We are simply defending the interests of Victor Valdes and the player wants to stay."
Asked about the wage demands of his client, Carvajal revealed that "it is not comparable to [Iker] Casillas, but he is a Barcelona goalkeeper, who has won three titles this year and has been the best in the league".
