Hugo Sanchez States His Desire To Remain At Almeria
Despite his side losing heavily to Atletico Madrid in the Vicente Calderon, the former Real Madrid man hopes to remain as Almeria coach next season...
Sanchez was speaking at the press conference after his side were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by an Atletico Madrid side who sealed the final Champions League position for next season, thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, Raul Garcia and Diego Forlan.
Former Real Madrid hero Sanchez, who took over at the club in December said that he has another year to run on his current deal and is not looking to move on, for the moment at least.
He stated, “This week I will have a meeting with the president to plan for next season. We have the departure of four players which is almost ensured, but my contract runs for another year, and my thoughts are with Almeria.”
The quartet thought to be heading for the exit door are Mane, Bruno, Iriney, and hitman Alvaro Negredo, who has been attracting attention from Valencia and Real Madrid.
Speaking of the loss to Atletico in the final match of the season, Sanchez was philosophical in defeat, and added that his side were too relaxed on the night.
He concluded, “We played without tension today, and the team has been relaxed and it was not the same atmosphere because we were not playing for anything.”
