Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo Does Not Worry Me – Martin Caceres

Barcelona need not worry about their defensive absentees because they have the cover to cope...

Martin Caceres
Martin Caceres believes that Barcelona have the defensive players to stop Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday and is relishing the chance of testing himself if given the chance.

The Uruguayan defender has not featured much this term in Pep Guardiola's side, but he could be thrust into the limelight in the Champions League final against Manchester United.

With Dani Alves, Eric Abidal and Rafael Marquez all out, the Blaugrana defence will have to be restructured. Caceres believes that if he plays he can help stop Ronaldo.

“Obviously Ronaldo is a world-class player. He has proved it on many occasions, scored decisive goals and proved his talent during finals,” he told Setanta Sports.

“But as far as Barcelona are concerned, we are good defenders and we are not scared at all of his tricks and dribbles. To the contrary, we are excited by the prospects of testing ourselves against one of world's best.”

Caceres has played only a handful of first-team games since joining Barcelona last summer from Villarreal, however, he thinks that he is prepared for the biggest game of his career.

“Everybody wants to be involved in the big final with Manchester United… I am here, ready to start the game and show that I am good enough,” he continued.

“I have been working hard throughout the season to prove that I am capable of playing in the final and I feel well-prepared for such a high level game.

“If you asked me if I am ready to replace Daniel Alves at right-back from the first minute of the game, I would say, ‘Yes.’ Why? Because I believe in myself and know that I can play my part in Barcelona's success.”
