Unai Emery Dejected After Valencia Lose To Villarreal
After the loss that ended Los Che's Champions League hopes, the gaffer was not in the mood to talk...
Valencia coach Unai Emery was obviously disappointed by his side's 3-1 loss to Villarreal, but vowed to continue fighting for a Europa League place at least.
The loss means Valencia now cannot qualify for the Champions League, as they stand five points adrift of fourth-placed Atletico Madrid with one match remaining.
Reflecting on the result, Emery said, "The reality is that now we have to fight against Deportivo [La Coruna] for the last Europa League place, in our game against Athletic Bilbao."
After spending 30 days in the fourth Champions League spot, it was a bitter pill to swallow for Emery, who said, "We are angry in the heat of the moment, but we have to recover quickly because our Europa League place is not insured.
"We had the right attitude, and I believe we could have won the game. We generated more chances than we did against Atletico Madrid."
Finally, Emery was asked to analyse the campaign as a whole, but he declined to do so until Valencia have played their last game.
