Manchester United To Wear All White Against Barcelona

Manchester United have chosen to wear an all white kit for the Champions League final after Barcelona were given the status of being the home team for the game in Rome next week.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men will don their away shirts as their first choice colours of red and second choice blue tops would both clash with the Blaugrana's strip.

While unintentionally choosing the same uniform as Barca's arch rivals Real Madrid for the game, the change will invoke memories of the last time the two sides met in a European final.

In 1991, Ferguson led his side to a surprise 2-1 win against the Catalan giants to win the European Cup Winners' Cup in Rotterdam, although that day Barca also wore a second choice kit.

Barcelona wore their home strip when they played Arsenal in Paris in 2006, with Gunners choosing a yellow and dark grey outfit that brought them little luck.

The supporters of the Blaugrana will watch the club's sixth appearance in a European Cup final from behind the south goal in the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
