Sevilla Always Have To Play With Two Strikers - Luis Fabiano
The Brazilian explained why he feels Sevilla should play with two up front and two fast wingers...
Luis Fabiano believes that Sevilla have to continue with their recent attacking formation and says "if you want to win you have to play with two strikers".
The Brazilian scored as Sevilla beat Real Mallorca 3-1 at the weekend to cement their place in the top four in the league.
However, he is not overly satisfied with his tally of goals this season and is focusing on finishing the year strongly.
"To score 17 goals is not bad, but eight in the league is not so good. I thought I would reach 17 or 18 but I have not played much, I was on the bench a few times, I was injured...The season has not gone as I expected, but we must continue, as there are three games left. I want to finish the year well and help the team return to the Champions League," Europa Press quote him as saying.
"I need regularity and after returning from injury I did not play a lot. All the times I came off the bench the team was losing and that is hard. Now I am 100%, I do not have injuries, I have confidence and, when I have that, I have a good chance to score."
Fabiano went on to state his belief that the team should always play with two up front and then with two fast wingers either side.
"Fredy [Kanoute] and I create danger up front, with Jesus Navas and [Diego] Capel on the wings, and if we want to win, we have to play like this, there is no other way. When you want to win you have to play with two forwards and with fast players like Capel, Navas, Adriano or [Diego] Perotti on the wings, and we have an objective and only by winning will we acheive it. We must take risks, there is no other way," he declared.
Despite his words sounding like advice for coach Manolo Jimenez, Fabiano assured that it was not the case.
"One must respect the decision of the coach, even when it is difficult, you want to help, you want to play, and the coach does not choose you...But one must respect that," he mused.
The Brazilian striker was then asked how he feels about the situation Jimenez is in, and the possibility of his leaving this summer.
"It is a decision for the president but, when the objective is achieved, I do not see any reason to change. The president makes that decision though," he explained.
Finally, Fabiano was asked about his own future and whether or not he will be continuing at Sevilla beyond this summer.
"I am very pleased with my contract but in football we do not know what will happen, I do not know what will happen. There is interest, but I am thinking about the three games we have left, I want to finish the season well and then we will see. The clause is for €25 million and if someone pays that I cannot do anything. I am very pleased with my contract, the city and the fans though," he concluded.
